KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, yesterday undertook a more than six hours visit to the rain affected areas in the city.He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner karachi central, Dr Saif ur Rehman. The Commissioner said on the occasion that the government is making every efforts for the provision of relief to the rain affectees and that they would not be left alone in this hour of need. He further pointed out that the relief and rescue work was being carried out continuously.
It was further pointed out that the deputy commissioners of Karachi central and Malir have established relief camps where the rain affectees are being looked after.
The spray work is also being carried out in the relief camps, the Commissioner added.

Administrator Reviews Relief Activities:

Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Saqib Soomro has said that following the directives of Chief Minister Sindh two dumpers, a loader and a crane have been provided to every district municipal corporation so that they could be used in relief works.It was our first priority to shift rain affected people on safe place so that precious human lives could be protected.He said this while reviewing relief works in Saadi Town Safoora Goth where he was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner East and Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui.KMC Administrator Saqib Soomro said that KMC staff consisting of 450 persons was busy with relief works whereas fire brigade vehicles were also standby on affected locations and relief works were being carried out in search lights of fire brigades.He said that about 400 people have been shifted from affected place and all resources were being utilized in this regard.Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Pakistan Army and Navy have been carrying out combined operation since last night.

Administrator Comes Up With Bizarre Justification:

KARACHI: Although, the incumbent Pakistan People’s Party government was at the helm of affairs over the last five years, Karachi Administrator Saqib Soomro came up with a bizarre logic to justify authorities’ failure saying that Karachi would also remain waterlogged for four days after rains during the stint of previous government.He said that staff of the city government was busy in rescue work in the city and their top priority was to shift the affected people to safe places. Soomro said that he was also accompanying his workers since he took charge of his office.


Local Bodies System Vital To Solve Basic Problems Of People: MQM:

KARACHI: Co-ordination Committee of MQM has said that local bodies system is the need of the hour to solve the basic problems of common people.According to a press release issued here yesterday, the  committee said that the recent rain caused difficulties to the  common people which has proved the principled stance of MQM chief Altaf Hussain that there was an urgent need of local bodies system  in Karachi and rest of Sindh. The Committee demanded of Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah that local bodies election should be held without any  further delay.The committee also showed grief and sorrows over the deaths of many people in rain related incidents.
